Guided Fly-fishing
The guided fly-fishing service is for those who want me to accompany them on the lake, chalkstream or river when fishing. As both instructor and guide, I can help you to get the most out of your day on the water.
Whether giving you tips on how to improve your casting or fishing skills, or your rivercraft - such as how to select the correct fly and tackle to match the conditions, or how to read the water better - I will help you to become more confident, knowledgeable and successful when fishing on your own.
Guiding is over half or full days, and can be either one-to-one or two-to-one. Charges will vary according to the cost of fishing and, if necessary, the hiring of equipment. I can accompany you on your own water, or I can arrange fishing for you.

Guided Trout/Grayling Fishing on Chalkstreams
Did you know there are 210 chalk-streams in the world, and 85% of them are in England; and 85% of those chalk-streams are in southern England?
For many trout anglers, the chalkstreams of Berkshire, Hampshire, Wiltshire and Dorset are hallowed turf. Uniquely, with its gin-clear water, it is sight-fishing; but the (wild) trout are therefore easily spooked, so an angler’s river-craft, casting and fishing skills have to be spot on. It is also where world-wide techniques like dry-fly and nymph fishing were developed by famous fishermen like Frank Sawyer and Oliver Kite.
Trout/Grayling Seasons
We fish for trout and grayling in chalk-streams, but the seasons are different for both fish, though they do overlap. The trout season is from 1st April – 31st October and the grayling season is from 16th June – 14th March, so we start fishing for trout from 1st April and then for both trout and grayling from 16th June-31st October and then only for grayling through winter and early spring until 14th March.

Guided Salmon Fishing
For many, catching a salmon – the ‘King of Fish’ – is the holy grail of fly-fishing, and fishing for salmon in Scotland – considered by many to be the ‘home’ of salmon fishing – draws anglers from all over the world, particularly to its famous ‘Big 4’ rivers – the Spey, Dee, Tay and Tweed.
I can accompany you on your own water, or I have access to a particular beat of the River Tweed.
